Edmund Weston

Husband:
Edmund Weston		Born: in England, possibly in Shustroke, Warwickshire or Cornwall, Oxfordshire), circa 1605.
Died: in Duxbury, MA between 18 April and 3 June 1686.
Parents: Unknown.
Edmund Weston married probably in Duxbury, MA in the mid 1600's, to a woman whose name was not recorded, although there is speculation that she was a daughter of Philip De La Noye (later spelled Delano).

Edmund came on the ship Elizabeth and Ann arriving in Boston, MA, in 1635. His age on the passenger list was given as 30. He probably came as an indentured servant as he was apprenticed to John Winslow and later to Nathaniel Thomas. By 4 Nov. 1639, he was licensed by the Court to live with John Carew and to be partners with him in planting Carew's land. He received various land grants, including in 1645 one of the original proprietorships in the Bridgewater grant. He was listed from Duxbury in 1643 as able to bear arms, was made a freeman on 7 June 1653, and served in various public offices such as grand juror and highway surveyor. In his will, dated 16 April 1686, and confirmed by witnesses 3 June 1686, he named three sons and one daughter, calling his daughter the wife of John Delano.

Edmund Weston and his wife (name unknown) had at least four children, order of birth not known accurately, all born in Duxbury, MA:

  • Mary, b. perhaps ca. 1658; m. John Delano.
  • Edmund, b. ca. 1660; m. Rebecca Soule.
  • John, b. probably ca. 1662; m. (1) Deborah Delano; m. (2) Rebecca Peterson.

Elnathan and his family lived on his father's farm near the Mill Brook in Duxbury, MA. He served at times as a grand juror.

Elnathan and his wife Jane (.....) Weston had five children, all born probably in Duxbury, MA:

  • Twins:
    • Mary, b. Oct. 1688; m. Joseph Simmons.
    • Sarah, b. Oct. 1688; d. in Duxbury, MA 13 April 1764; m. in Duxbury, MA 4 March 1707/8 John Chandler, son of Benjamin and Elizabeth (Buck) Chandler.
  • Samuel, b. ca. 1690; m. Elizabeth Southworth.
  • Joseph, b. March 1692; m. Mercy Peterson.
  • Abigail, b. ca. 1704; believed to be the Abigail Weston who d. in Duxbury, MA 7 Sept. 1766; no known descendants.

Married: in Duxbury, MA 14 March 1716/7.

Samuel and his family lived in Duxbury, MA, where he was a "freeholder" in 1707, one of the selectmen in 1740, 1745, 1747, tax collector, constable, and town meeting moderator.

Samuel and his wife Elizabeth (Southworth) Weston had six children, all born in Duxbury, MA:

  • Samuel, b. 5 March 1718; d. in 1764.
  • Zabdiel, b. 22 Jan. 1719/20; d. 1739 unmarried.
  • Mary, b. 18 July 1722; d. 1778 unmarried.
  • Priscilla, b. 24 Jan. 1724/5; d. 7 Jan. 1756 unmarried.

Elnathan and Jemima had children and lived in Duxbury, MA. Later in time, their life became difficult as Elnathan was found "non compos mentis" which resulted in Jemima, with the town's help, having to place him under regulated care.

Elnathan and his wife Jemima (Bisbee) Weston had five children, all born in Duxbury, MA:

  • Elizabeth, b. 3 Jan. 1752; m. Josiah Hatch.
  • Samuel, b. 14 March 1753/4; m. Abigail Bisbee and settled in Warren, ME.
  • Abigail, b. 4 June 1758; m. Edin Waterman.
  • Nathaniel, b. 27 Dec. 1760; d. in the army in 1777.
  • Priscilla, b. 7 June 1764; m. Samuel Darling.
