Thomas Ward

Died: in Hampton, NH about 1680, but before 27 July 1680.
Parents: possibly Francis and Susanna (Browne) Ward.
Wife:
Margaret Shaw		Bpt: Gawsworth, Cheshire, England 4 July 1626.
Died: in Hampton, NH 15 April 1704.
Parents: Roger and Anne Shaw.
Married: Place and date unknown.

Thomas was a weaver and, as a young man, received a house lot the first year of the settlement of Hampton, NH. He probably lived on the north side of Exeter road and moved to a lot on the road from "Meeting-house Green" to the Falls which he bought from William Howard. Thomas was a selectman eight times from 1650 to 1672.

Thomas and his wife Margaret (Shaw) Ward had four children, all born in Hampton, NH:

  • Elizabeth, b. 10 Dec. 1651; m. John Mason.
  • Mary, b. 1653; m. John Dearborn, son of Godfrey Dearborn and ancestor of General Henry Dearborn of Revolutionary War fame.
  • Hannah, b. 29 Dec. 1655; m. Lt. Joseph Swett, son of Capt. Benjamin Swett.
  • Thomas, b. 3 Jan. 1666; m. Sarah -----.
