We are descended from Henry Somerby through two of his great granddaughters, Mercy and Mary Clarke. Mary (Clarke) Page's daughter, Mercy Page, married Mercy (Clarke) Longfellow's son, Jacob Longfellow, and we descend from that union.

Judith Greenleaf		Baptized: in Ipswich, Suffolk, England, 2 September 1625.
Died: in Newbury, MA, 15 December 1705.
Father: Edmund Greenleaf.
Mother: Sarah Dole.
Judith (Greenleaf) Somerby married second, in Newbury, MA, 2 March 1653, Tristram Coffin, Jr., her brother's wife's brother, and son of Tristram Coffin, and they had ten children.

Henry and Anthony Somerby, sons of Richard, son of Henry Somerby of Little Bythum, Lincolnshire, England, came to America on the ship Jonathan in 1639, landing in Boston. They went to Newbury where they settled. Henry was a merchant tailor.

Henry and his wife Judith (Greenleaf) somerby had four children, all born probably in Newbury, MA:

  • Sarah, b. 10 Feb. 1645; m. John Hale, son of Thomas Hale.
  • Elizabeth, b. 1 Nov. 1646; m. (1) Nathaniel Clark; m. (2) 8 Aug. 1698, Rev. John Hale of Beverly.
  • John, b. 24 Dec. 1648; d. 14 Dec. 1650.
  • Daniel, b. 18 Nov. 1650; killed in Indian battle, 19 Dec. 1675.
