Thomas had a grant of land in Hingham in 1637, and other grants of land later. On 11 March 1653, he bought of his father-in-law, Thomas Josselyn, a dwelling house and barn with three acres of land. Nichol's Hill, referred to in early deeds probably took its name from him. Thomas was a farmer and, also, selectman in 1676. The family resided on Fort Hill Street.
Thomas and his wife Rebecca (Josselyn) Nichols had eleven children, all born in Hingham, MA:

- Rebecca, b. ca. 1641; bpt. Jan. 1643/4; m. in Scituate, MA 23 March 1664, Samuel House, Jr. They had five children.
- Elizabeth, b. ca. 1643; bpt. Jan. 1643/4; m. at Hingham, MA, 18 Oct. 1666, Robert Green. They had one child.
- Hannah, bpt. 18 Feb. 1645/6.
- Ephraim, bpt. 14 May 1648; m. 15 Feb. 1675/6, Abigail -----.
- Israel, a weaver, bpt. 1 Sept. 1650; died in Hingham, MA 24 Jan. 1733/4; m. (1) in Hingham, 25 Sept. 1679, Mary -----, who died in Hingham 26 March 1688, they had five children; m. (2) in Milton, MA, 10 Jan. 1689, his first cousin, Mary Sumner, b. in Lancaster, MA 5 Aug. 1665, daughter of Roger and Mary (Josselyn) Sumner, died in Hingham, 27 Feb. 1723/4, they had ten children; m. (3) in Hingham, 24 June 1725, Rebecca (Lincoln) Clark, b. in Hingham, 11 March 1673/4, d. there 4 Feb. 1757, daughter of Samuel and Martha Lincoln, widow of John Clark of Plymouth.
- Nathaniel, bpt. 3 July 1653; d. in Pembroke, MA, ca. 1730-31; m. in Hingham, MA 16 April 1687, Sarah Lincoln, b. in Hingham, 7 Sept. 1664, d. in Pembroke, Nov. 1748, daughter of Daniel and Susanna Lincoln. They lived in Hingham until 1715 and then moved to Pembroke. They had four children.
