Henry MerrittHenry Merritt was born in Tenterden, Kent County, England, in 1590, and died in Scituate, Massachusetts 30 November 1653. He had a wife, but we have not been able to find out anything about her. Henry Merritt was an early settler of Scituate, as early as 1626, though not a freeman until 1638. There is a deed in the Colony records, dated 1628, from Henry Merritt to Nathaniel Tilden, conveying planting lands on the Third Cliff. He was one of the Conihassett partners, and a town officer in 1642. Henry Merritt and his wife had at least three children, places and dates of births unknown:
