Robert and Elizabeth Daniels

Some sources mention that Robert Daniels married a Miss Looker who died 3 March 1648. When the NEHGS printed that information, it later published a correction, saying the information was in error. Robert Daniels was only married twice.

Robert settled in Watertown, previous to 1636. He was a grantee of five lots, and purchased the "homestall" of Nicholas Jacob, thirteen acres of land lying not far from the site of the old U.S. Arsenal. He was admitted freeman 14 March 1638-39. In 1651, he moved to Cambridge. He was released from training in April 1655.

Robert and his first wife Elizabeth Daniels had five children, places of births of the first three children not known accurately:

  • Elizabeth, b. in 1630; d. 27 Jan. 1722; m. in 1655, Thomas Fanning.
  • Samuel, b. about 1633; m. in 1671 Mary Grant and settled in Medfield in 1689.
  • Joseph, b. about 1635.
  • Sarah, b. in Watertown, about 1640; m. James Johnson, son of Edmund and Mary Johnson.
  • Mary, b. in Watertwon, 2 Sept. 1642; d. in 1704; m. 1660, Samson Frary of Medfield where they lived for a time before moving to Deerfield where she was killed by the Indians.
