John Churchill
The first record of John Churchill in America was in Plymouth, MA, when his name appeared in 1643 on the list of male inhabitants between 16 and 60 years old who were able to bear arms. He bought a farm from Richard Higgins on 18 August 1645 and was admitted a freeman on 5 June 1651. On 20 October 1652, he bought 10 acres of upland at Wellingsley in the township of Plymouth. In this deed he was called "Planter." John and his wife Hannah (Pontus) Churchill had six children, all born in Plymouth, MA:

William Churchill
William inherited lands in Punkatussett, now Plympton, MA, and was among the first settlers in that part of old Plymouth. William and his wife Lydia (Bryant) Churchill had eight children, all born in Plympton, MA:

Samuel Churchill
Samuel and Joanna lived in Plympton, MA, where he was a farmer and a deacon of the church. Samuel's will was dated 17 April 1751 at Plympton and probated 6 May 1751. In it, he names his wife Mary (or Mercy), her daughter, Mercy Ellis, his grandsons Samuel and Joseph Darlin (Darling), his daughter Mehitable Harlow, his grandson James Morton, his son-in-law James Harlow, his daughter Alice Leach, and his son-in-law, Jesse Leach. Samuel and his first wife Joanna (Bryant) Churchill had at least three children, all born in Plympton, MA:
